Small Business Snapshot: Little Chiefs Boutique

By Toowoomba Living · On April 5, 2016

Bold prints, bright colours, totally cute accessories and everything in adorable mini sizes: the urge to Instagram is strong in Little Chiefs Boutique.

And that’s not surprising, given owner Marissa Thompson has rounded up her favourite Instagram kids’ clothing brands and brought them under one roof for Toowoomba shoppers.

A mum of two boys, it wasn’t long after having her first that Marissa encountered a common problem for Toowoomba mums: cute, non-traditional clothes were hard to find! So like any normal person in 2016 she turned to Instagram and started following the biggest brands like Sapling, Kapow Kids, Brave and Fearless, Beau Hudson and Two Tykes.

Before long Marissa was running a successful online children’s boutique, shipping these gorgeous brands, and more, to grateful shoppers everywhere. Following the success of her online venture, late last year the Little Chiefs bricks and mortar store was born in Toowoomba’s fashion hub, the Australia Arcade.

Marissa says Little Chiefs brings something different to the local fashion scene.

“Little Chiefs style is edgy and modern,” she says. “It’s fun, comfortable, so kids can play easily, with bold patterns and prints for both boys and girls.

“Our best sellers are boys clothes, because it can be hard to find cute clothes for boys. And people also love our organic, eco friendly clothes and bamboo products.”

Marissa specialises in brands that are unique or hard to find in Toowoomba, so if you’ve had your eye on a particular product or brand she will do her best to track it down for you.

As Toowoomba’s only stockist of Incy Interiors, Little Chiefs also has décor covered with a range of bedlinen, room accents, throw cushions, clothing, décor, accessories, gifts and artwork. Mums aren’t forgotten either, with the hugely popular Dove + Dovelet range of teething jewellery available in store and online.

Little Chiefs stocks clothes up to size six for both boys and girls. The store is open from Monday to Saturday and on any given day you may also run into Marissa’s coworker – her baby boy Carter, who accompanies Mum to work some days and is one of the cutest employees you’ll ever meet (see below for evidence of cuteness).
