Carnival may be over but the flowers are still out and the weather just keeps getting better. Say hi to October and get out and about to these events this long weekend in Toowoomba.

Pop Up Shop – Friday 2-Saturday 3 October

From 12 to 2pm this Friday and Saturday The Bungalow and Basket are hosting a Pop Up Shop with wares from Lady and the Fox and Country Peonies. Bring your cash for the delights on offer.

Oktoberfest at the Mort – Saturday 3 October

Steins, pretzels, bratwurst and lederhosen – it must be Oktoberfest! The Mort Estate Hotel is hosting the party – dress up for your chance to win prizes. 

Open air cinema at Ground Up Espresso Bar – Saturday 3 October

Bring a deck chair as the carpark at Ground Up transforms to an open air cinema this Saturday night at 6.15pm. Your eyes will feast on The Salt of the Earth­, the Academy Award nominated documentary about the 40-year career of Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado while your tummy will be all about the German BBQ on offer. Tickets are $10 on sale at Ground Up now.

PBR Bullride – Saturday 3 October 

The 4th Annual Tuff Bull Bars PBR All Star Challenge Event is happening at the Clive Berghofer Centre this Saturday night. See who can last the eight seconds like Lane Frost. Gates open at 5pm, bull riding action starts at 7pm. You can get tickets at the gate or see pbraustralia.com.au for more details. 

Where’s Your Head At Music Festival – Sunday 4 October

Local bands will play a marathon music festival at TheGRID Sound this Sunday in support of Mental Health Week. Local favourites Project 62 and The Astronaut Headdress form just some of the line up. Music starts at 11.30am and goes til midnight, $20 entry at the door or get your tickets from $15 from the Crazy Goat Espresso. RSVP on Facebook.

Margaret Street Markets

The regular monthly markets is on again and this Sunday’s market will turn pink to support breast cancer awareness.

Caloundra Music Festival – Friday 2-Monday 5 October

Saturday is sold out but you can still snap up tickets for the other days and see artists like Angus and Julia Stone, Blue King Brown, Kate Ceberano, Ben Lee, Thundamentals, and the Beards. Plus there’s the complementary Caloundra Fringe Festival and heaps of other activities to keep you busy. See caloundramusicfestival.com for more details.

BrisBricks Lego Expo – Saturday 3-Monday 5 October

Love Lego? Who doesn’t? Over one million Lego bricks will be built into amazing creations and displays this weekend at the BrisBricks Lego fan expo. Tickets are $10 for adults and ONLY available online – see brisbricks.org for more.
