This weekend – a puppet show that’s giving me total Mulligrubs vibes and cars and outdoors stuff.

Argus by Dead Puppets Society – Thursday 30 July-Friday 31 July

If a puppet show made only of hands sounds to you like a great thing, and not potential nightmare material, get along tomorrow to USQ Artworx to learn about Argus, the little character who’s just searching for a home. It’s on at 10am, see the website for ticket prices.

Gig: The Strums at TheGRID Sound – Friday 31 July

Outdoor Adventure and Motoring Expo – Friday 31 July-Sunday 2 August

For the latest in caravans, camper trailers, motor homes, vehicles and 4WDs, camping gear and accessories head to the Showgrounds this weekend for the Outdoor Adventure and Motoring Expo. There will be demos, rides for the kids and an Anaconda prize pack worth $650 to win. $10 for adult entry, for more details check the website.

Charity Lunch with Michael Lynagh – Wednesday 5 August

Wallabies fans don’t miss your chance to attend a charity lunch with former captain Michael Lynagh at Fitzy’s. He’ll be signing copies of his new book Blindsided. Tickets are $125 per person, or $990 for a table of 10 – you’ll get a two course meal, drinks package and funds raised will go to the Stroke Recovery Trial Fund. Tickets available at The Book Tree and 4GR.

And in Brisbane…

Night Noodle Markets – Wednesday 22 July-Sunday 2 August

It’s the last days of the Night Noodle Markets at South Bank. Try the super yum steamed duck buns from Madam Wu or try the noodles at Longtime. Free entry, open Monday to Thursday 5pm to late, Friday 4pm to late and weekends 2pm until your belly bursts.

James St Food & Wine Trail – Thursday 30 July-Sunday 2 August

Outdoor bars, pop up kitchens, delicious degustation menus – the fourth annual James St Food & Wine Trail will include cooking classes from Gerard’s Bistro Ben Williamson and a kids’ camp at Angelo’s Pasta.
